Moana Pasifika to host Highlanders in historic Super Rugby clash in Tonga . It has been confirmed that the Moana Pasifika home game in the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific competition will take place on Saturday, May 4th, at Te’ufaiva Stadium in Nuku’alofa.

That will add another chapter to the histories of the Tonga Rugby Union (TRU) and the Auckland-based team. Tonga will host the inaugural Super Rugby Pacific match between Moana Pasifika and the Highlanders.

In a joint Moana Pasifika and TRU statement on Wednesday, Prime Minister Hu’akavameiliku Siaosi Sovaleni, the president of the Tonga Rugby Union, acknowledged the game’s importance for the local community as well as for rugby in Tonga.

MOANA PASIFIKA TO PLAY HISTORIC HOME GAME IN TONGA

Moana Pasifika will create history on Saturday, May 4, 2024, when it plays its first-ever Super Rugby Pacific match in the Kingdom of Tonga against the Highlanders.

The Tonga Rugby Union is excited to be the host of the match, which will take place at Teufaiva Sport Stadium in Nuku’alofa, the capital of the Kingdom. They understand the importance of this first-ever event for rugby in Tonga as well as what it represents for the surrounding community.

“Having Moana Pasifika here in the Kingdom makes me and I’m sure all Tongans very happy. Prime Minister of Tonga, RT Hon. Hu’akavameiliku, who is also the president of the Tonga Rugby Union, states, “We look forward to continuing to demonstrate that we can host these international games.” Super Rugby Pacific’s biggest weekend is locked to come back to Melbourne for the third time in 2024.
